With the SIL 4-capable railway control system PSSrail you have a flexible, customised system, which is perfectly tailored to your individual requirements. Thanks to its modular structure it can be easily adapted to any application, and enables you to implement your individual requirements. Our control system is compatible with the EULYNX standard, thus paving the way for the implementation of digitisation projects in railway infrastructure.

Our solution for the digital railway combines all the functions needed to fulfil existing or future control tasks along the line. For example, these include control and monitoring of level crossings, locally operated points (LOP), deployment as an Object Controller Platform and as an EULYNX Adapter, as well as the fields of engineering, project configuration, service and maintenance.

Generic controller for various types of points

Networking of proprietary infrastructure using Object Controllers

The decentralised signal box works with Object Controllers, meaning that the actuation is situated directly at the track element that is to be controlled. All that is required here is connecting Ethernet and supply voltage to the array elements. Extensive wiring over several kilometres is not necessary. Our system monitors the same safety functions with this application as with a centralised signal box without Object Controller.

Our Object Controller Platform offers the following benefits: 

  • Safe network communication in accordance with the EULYNX standard (RaSTA)
  • Control of track elements
  • Monitoring of safety-relevant signals along the entire line
  • Recording and transfer of status data for preventive maintenance

Protecting level crossings up to SIL 4

Wherever rail traffic crosses a street, safety is the top priority. Our solution for railway automation monitors the signal technology of a level crossing, such as the level crossing monitoring signal and the signal encoder for road traffic, for example. With our railway control system we guarantee that barriers close safely and at the right time, that signalling technology works perfectly and that the train stops in time in the case of danger. That way, level crossings are safer and more reliable for both railway operators and road traffic.

The benefits of our solution for securing level crossings:

  • Monitoring the barrier drive and barrier end positions
  • Signal technology: level of failure of LEDs in LED modules is measured safely
  • Status data for preventive maintenance is recorded and transferred
  • Remote diagnostics via safe glass fibre connection or cloud
     

Monitoring of locally operated points (LOP)

Our railway control system detects the position of the points via the point mechanism and controls the point position indicator. This guarantees that the end position of the points is correctly displayed for the train driver on the point position indicator. Our railway control system also ensures that the LOP cannot be adjusted as long as there is still a rail vehicle near the LOP.

EULYNX adapter

For digitisation of the rail industry we worked with ProRail, the largest railway infrastructure operator in the Netherlands, to develop our railway control system PSSrail as a EULYNX Adapter. It can be used to convert incoming signals, to or from interlockings for example, into control commands, based on the communication protocol RaSTA. Thus the Object Controller interprets the commands and controls the points.

These are the functions we offer with the EULYNX Adapter:

  • Simple migration to EULYNX standard 
  • Flexible exchange of field elements
  • Field test possible without EULYNX interlocking
