Pilz enjoys record turnover in 2023 – Safety and Security for the transformation of industry - “Pilz resolutely continued its success story in 2023!”

The Pilz Group ended the 2023 financial year with a record turnover of 432.9 million Euro. The automation company from Ostfildern enjoyed worldwide growth and is reinvesting its profits. In particular, growth opportunities exist for Pilz as Safety and Security are a key component for industrial transformation.

“The 2023 financial year was very successful. Pilz resolutely continued its success story in 2023. We thank all our employees for their amazing commitment”, says Susanne Kunschert, Managing Partner of Pilz GmbH & Co. KG.

Growth primarily in Europe – India a future market
The family business was able to increase its turnover by 7.3 per cent to 433 million Euro, marking the highest value in its 75-year history. Pilz achieved growth in key industrial countries: Germany, as well as Italy, Korea, Switzerland, Austria, UK and Turkey. India was where the expert in safe automation recorded the highest percentage growth. The share of exports dropped slightly by 1.1 percentage points to 75.4 per cent. In terms of the range of products and solutions, Pilz achieved similar growth in almost every area. The safe small controllers PNOZmulti, sensor technology and services were particularly strong performers.
The number of employees also rose: as of 31.12.2023, the company employed 2,476 employees (+3.2 per cent) in 42 subsidiaries worldwide. On that date, 1,016 staff were employed at the head office in Ostfildern.

Safety and Security in transformation
“Digitisation and sustainability are the driving forces of an industry in flux. Just as digitisation cannot be implemented without Security, so Safety is important for sustainable business. An industry in transformation needs automation solutions that are Safe and Secure!”, explains Thomas Pilz, Managing Partner, Pilz GmbH & Co. KG.
“Safety and Security are two sides of the same coin. Without Security, the Safety of human, machine and environment can no longer be guaranteed in the age of digitisation. And for Pilz, Safety is our corporate philosophy”, he adds.
The automation company is continuously expanding its range of products and services. In the field of Industrial Security, this year Pilz is introducing its ISCS services package – Industrial Security Consulting Service. With this Pilz is providing particular support to customers, helping them meet the specifications of the recently published Machinery Regulation, as well as the upcoming EU Directive NIS 2: “It is about protecting data and processes from unauthorised access and manipulation. Industrial Security is a mission-critical factor”, explains Thomas Pilz.

Looking confidently to the future
“Pilz can feel a drop in incoming orders. That’s why in 2024 we will be cost-conscious. Our innovative products and services will take us into next year”, explains Susanne Kunschert.
