Senior Automation Sales Engineer

Pilz Automation Safety is currently seeking a Senior Automation Sales Engineer in the Kentucky or Tennessee region.

The Senior Automation Sales Engineer will focus on the sale of automation systems within the whiskey / distillery industry.  The Senior Automation Sales Engineer will work closely with other members of the Global Distillery Automation Business Unit to address customer automation needs including, but not limited to, cask handling and maturation of the whiskey business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify target customers and key contacts for the Pilz Internet of Things / Industry 4.0 Distillery Automation Solutions portfolio
  • Continuously grow the network of contacts within strategic customers; entering data into CRM reporting tool(s)
  • Regular visits to strategic customers to develop relationships
  • Create sales and marketing material to ensure accurate, relevant and personalized presentations which successfully promote Pilz Systems & Solutions to customers
  • Identify key decision makers including contacts in Automation, Projects, Procurement, Health & Safety, and Accounts Payable departments
  • Deepen and expand relationships with new and existing customers becoming a trusted partner to help develop and build their automation roadmap
  • Generate leads and identify opportunities for projects within target customer base
  • Convert sales opportunities in agreed regions and sectors
  • Be knowledgeable about Pilz solutions for the global distillery market
  • Drive the sales process to meet annual sales targets for region / customer base
  • Assist the head of sales to identify and build out new sales channels within the region
  • Generate sales reports as necessary including CRM contact information, customer account plans and competitor intelligence
  • Collaborate with the head of sales and other business unit team members to bring existing and potential customer needs to the business innovation process
  • Ensure Pilz has a presence at relevant roadshows and events where we can bring our solutions to the key players within the region
  • Other duties as assigned

Travel required: Primarily domestic travel with periodic international travel

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience in automation sales or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office user
  • Ability to speak in large groups of people
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to accumulate and demonstrate technical knowledge
  • Willingness to learn Pilz products and procedures
  • Self-motivated with a high level of autonomy, well-organized and team oriented
  • Customer focused, reliable and dependable with the highest level of integrity
  • Energetic and enthusiastic about a start-up business unit within one of the leading global automation brands
  • Passionate about the distillery / whiskey sector, specifically the automation domain

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success and great business acumen in a sales role within the whiskey / distillery sector
  • Demonstrated success in selling multiple individual capital projects greater than $1M
  • Demonstrated success in managing accounts with annual sales in excess of $3M
  • Knowledge of automation technology and processes related to whiskey distilling, maturation and cask handling
  • Knowledge of modern automation and robotics; aware of the innovative trends in the market
  • Proven ability in discussing technical as well as commercial aspects of project completion from shop floor to boardroom with key stakeholders including internal teams and colleagues

Desirable Experience:
5 years minimum experience in the sector
