PNOZmulti 2 small controller - Base units

The basis for your application: which is the right base unit?

Which is the right PNOZmulti 2 base unit?

The configurable safe small controllers PNOZmulti 2 are used in virtually every area of plant and mechanical engineering. PNOZmulti 2 can be used to monitor safety functions safely and to perform standard control functions economically.

The configurable safe small controllers PNOZmulti 2 have a modular design: Select a base unit and then choose the required number of expansion modules to meet the needs of your application.

The compact standalone base unit PNOZ m C0 is not modular and expandable. With a 22.5 mm width, it's as narrow as a safety relay, but as powerful as a safety controller.

Both the hardware and the application configuration are created in the software tool PNOZmulti Configurator. Once completed, the configuration is loaded on to a program memory and inserted into the base unit. The configuration can be simulated offline prior to commissioning - no need for hardware.

The smallest safety controller PNOZmulti 2 – Standalone base unit PNOZ m C0

The smallest safety controller PNOZmulti 2 – Standalone base unit PNOZ m C0

The standalone base unit is extremely compact at just 22.5 mm width. With eight freely configurable safe inputs and four safe semiconductor outputs, it monitors up to four safety functions on machines. Depending on the application, it can be used to implement safety requirements up to PL e of EN ISO 13849-1 and SIL CL 3 of EN IEC 62061. PNOZ m C0 is safe, high-performance and highly economical for small machines in a range of industries and application areas, such as packaging, on robot cells or in the food and beverage sector. Expand the powerhouse with safe sensor technology – such as the safety gate system PSENmlock, safety light curtains PSENopt II or safety switches PSEN.

You can use the safe small controllers PNOZmulti 2 irrespective of machine type, plant type, country or industry. If the number of safety functions on your machine increases, you can migrate to the modular, expandable base units – PNOZ m B0, PNOZ m B0.1 or PNOZ m B1. So the saying “Many functions – one solution!” still applies, even after 20 years on the market.

Your application advantages:

  • Create the safety circuit using the software tool PNOZmulti Configurator, available free of licence costs
  • Maximum flexibility: inputs and outputs are freely configurable in the PNOZmulti Configurator
  • Tailored costs and saves space in the control cabinet: as narrow as a safety relay, as powerful as a safety controller

Safe small controllers PNOZmulti 2 – New base unit for safe applications!

Safe small controllers PNOZmulti 2 - New base unit

Do you need to monitor safety functions up to PL e / SIL CL 3 on your machine? The new base unit PNOZ m B0.1 can be used as a stand-alone device or expanded with max. one I/O module in a modular system: brand new with the relay output module PNOZ m EF 2DOR. Alternatively, you can use a maximum of one of these I/O modules: PNOZ m EF 16DI or PNOZ m EF 8DI4DO or PNOZ m EF 8DI2DOT or PNOZ m EF 4DI4DOR or PNOZ m EF 4DI4DORD.

Modular system keeps costs under control

Due to the large variety of modules with PNOZ m B0.1, you can assemble your application flexibly to meet your needs: all safety functions can be freely configured to suit the specific application. This enables systems to be adapted and tailored exactly to your application.

Simple migration of PNOZmulti Mini

In combination with the new relay output module, the new base unit handles all the specific tasks of this product range as a compatible successor to the compact controllers PNOZmulti Mini. From Version 11 of the software tool PNOZmulti Configurator, existing PNOZmulti Mini projects can simply be migrated to the new base unit PNOZ m B0.1. Existing link modules for connecting decentralised input modules PDP or for networking several PNOZmulti 2 systems can also be used with the new base unit, thereby covering all safety applications.

Your application advantages

  • Safe operation due to certified hardware and convenient, intuitive software tool
  • Cost-effective and sustainable: worldwide safety standard for many automation environments and communication systems

Manage furnaces safely with the small controllers PNOZmulti 2

With the base unit PNOZ m B1 Burner from the safe small controller PNOZmulti 2, you can manage safe monitoring and safe control of furnaces simultaneously with one solution. That's because PNOZmulti 2 controls and monitors both the burner itself and the entire furnace. You can configure a wide range of burner applications using the burner element (function block), which reproduces the expanded functionality of a flexible, configurable, electronic automatic burner control system. Different burner types are included, for example master or slave burners, direct or indirect ignition, low or high temperature mode and many more. An expansion module PNOZ m EF 4DI4DORD with four safe, diverse relay outputs in accordance with EN 50156-1 is also available to control a burner's safety valves.

Your application advantages:

  • Flexible and safe design of your furnace
  • Saves lots of time during design and engineering, as you can easily and quickly implement even complex safety applications with just one small controller
  • Options to connect to numerous automation environments and communication systems
  • Maximum safety thanks to tested and certified hardware and software elements

Your benefits at a glance

  • Tailor-made costs because of an exact match for the application, thanks to the use of expansion modules
  • Short downtimes and high plant availability thanks to connection to all common fieldbus systems via corresponding modules
