Safety of Packaging and Associated Machinery

Objective

Packaging machinery of some form is used in almost every industry.

This course is a specialised training course developed to provide the participants with an understanding of safety requirements for packaging machinery and their associated machines, such as robots (including collaborative robots) and conveyors, to ensure they can meet their obligations relating to Australian legislation and standards.
The course will demonstrate how to achieve the required level of safety and analyse risk reduction while still maintaining high productivity with reference to best practice standards including AS/NZS 4024 parts 1, 2 and the Part 3 standards for Packaging Machines, Robots and Conveyors.

Contents

By the end of the course participants will:

  • be aware of the relevant standards and best engineering practise relating to packaging machinery
  • be aware of the relevant standards and best engineering practise relating to robots and collaborative robots
  • be aware of the relevant standards and best engineering practise relating to conveyors
  • understand the typical control measures to reduce risk
  • know which safety technologies can be used to create competitive advantage when using packaging machines
  • understand different safety strategies and when to apply them
