Summary

Most industrial machinery accidents occur as a result of a reflex action or simply not paying attention to the surroundings. In order to ensure your machine’s safety devices provide sufficient protection for man and machine, the proper safety distance calculation needs to be determined and selected. The machines movement must come to a complete stop before the hazardous point is reached – for the entire service life of the machine. Stop-time measurement readings taken on individual machines are used to determine the minimum safety distance required for placement of the machine’s operating controls or safeguarding devices used during production.

This webinar will review:

  • The concept of presence sensing devices and safe distance
  • Calculation of the required safety distance between the hazardous point and the non-physical guard according to EN ISO 13855
  • Introduce other presence sensing devices installation requirements
  • Provide method of measuring machine stop time to validate an installation
  • Assessing Interlocked guards
