Guarantee lasting safety

With an inspection of safeguards by Pilz

Regular inspection of the safeguards on your plant and machinery will ensure that statutory safety regulations are met, thus laying the foundation for improved protection for employees and for minimising risk and liability.

Your requirements

Construction, upgrades or manipulation of safeguards or changes to work processes can undermine the level of protection. If undetected, this can cause considerable damage and compromise the safety of employees. In many countries it is a legal requirement to regularly inspect safety-related equipment on machinery. As machine operators you are obliged to carry out an inspection before a machine is put into service for the first time and each time it is installed in a new location. Machinery that is subjected to heavy use and is exposed to potential impairment of the safeguards must be inspected regularly. We recommend you perform the inspection at least once a year.

Safeguards must be inspected regularly.

“When work equipment has undergone modifications that require inspection, it must be inspected by a competent person before it is next used. Work equipment affected by exceptional events that could have an adverse effect on safety and endanger employees shall undergo an extraordinary inspection by a competent person before it is used again. In particular, exceptional events may include accidents, extended periods of non-use of the work equipment or natural phenomena”. (Work Equipment Ordinance BetrSichV § 14 Inspection of work equipment (3))

We recommend you perform the inspection at least once a year.

Our services

We examine all technical safeguards

We inspect your machine’s technical safeguards with regard to installation, condition and function. This includes E-STOPs, safety gates, two-hand control devices as well as optoelectronic protective devices such as light curtains, laser scanners and camera-based systems. We use overrun measurements to verify that the current safety distances correspond to the values specified for your machine.

Pilz's inspection of safeguards includes:

  • Initial inspection of the technical safeguards: proper installation, safe functioning and integration into the machine control system
  • Overrun measurements (inspection of the safety distance specified by the manufacturer)
  • Inspection of the technical safeguards: current condition, proper installation, safe functioning
  • Handover of a detailed inspection report for the machine documentation
