Machinery Regulation from 2027: Security will be a key competitive factor

The increasing digitisation and networking of industrial plants has changed the risk landscape. That's because classic functional safety is no longer enough to guarantee Machinery Safety in modern production environments. Cyberattacks, manipulation, and insecure remote access pose real threats. The Machinery Regulation (MR) addresses this development by merging Safety and Industrial Security.

Mastering compliance requirements with MYZEL

How can you implement and comply with statutory requirements for machinery throughout its entire lifecycle? Machinery manufacturers and operators must address this issue now because the EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 comes into force on 20 January 2027. This also brings Industrial Security and digitisation to the fore. Both aspects will require a structured approach and full documentation in future.

The Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 clearly stipulates that safety can only function reliably if safety-related functions are protected against manipulation. Modern machinery is digitally networked, configured via software and adjusted during operation.
