Pilz at SPS smart production solutions 2023 - Looking at the new Machinery Regulation - Safety & Security in Transformation

At the exhibition SPS smart production solutions (14 - 16 November 2023 in Nuremberg), the automation company Pilz will be showing technologies and solutions that make machinery Safe and Secure. Taking centre stage will be Identification and Access Management (I.A.M.) and the application firewall SecurityBridge. There will also be a focus on safety gate systems, plus connectivity with IO-Link Safety and Safety over EtherCAT (FSoE = FailSafe over EtherCAT). In the expert panel, live on the exhibition stand, specialists from Pilz will explain the new technological and normative developments in Safety and Security, as well as the effects of the new Machinery Regulation.

Configurable small controller PNOZmulti 2 from Pilz now with FSoE (= FailSafe over EtherCAT) connection - Safe data transfer combined with flexible architectures

For efficient production, it should be possible to seamlessly integrate safety concepts into machine concepts. That is why the configurable safe small controller PNOZmulti 2 from Pilz supports the open communication system EtherCAT in combination with the safe protocol Safety-over-EtherCAT FSoE (= FailSafe over EtherCAT). As a result, PNOZmulti 2 enables the transfer of both control and safety-related information, thereby achieving efficiency in production. So PNOZmulti 2 now offers flexible, economical expansion options when connecting safety-related plant structures.

New safety locking devices from Pilz: PSENmlock mini and PSENslock 2 for higher productivity - New, small gate guards: robust and strong

When protecting guards, there are various factors to consider, depending on the application. For example, the type of safety gate, the respective installation situation and how it is used. With this in mind, Pilz is adding two new sensors to its portfolio of safety locking devices – PSENmlock mini for space-critical applications and PSENslock 2 with optimised hygienic design, as well as new versions with stainless steel components. Both sensors offer particular benefits for the packaging and pharmaceutical industry, and for the food and beverage sector. A high level of manipulation protection and added flexibility for the user are characteristics of both safety locking devices. This has a positive impact on productivity.

Holistic, safe system solution from Pilz for IO-Link Safety, comprising Master, field devices and accessories - Safe connectivity at field level

For the first time, a complete IO-Link Safety System is available for safe communication at field level: The system solution from Pilz comprises Master, as well as field devices and compatible accessories. Among the first devices in the Pilz portfolio to be equipped with IO-Link Safety functionality are the safety light curtains PSENopt II advanced IOLS, the control unit PITgatebox IOLS and the IO-Link Safety Master PDP67 IOLS. The complete package from the expert in safe automation makes it easier to integrate IO-Link Safety technology into plant and machinery.

Pilz safety solution for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) - Safe autonomous navigation

For freely navigating mobile platforms, Pilz now offers manufacturers a comprehensive safety solution in accordance with ISO 3691-4 – for an efficient flow of goods in production and logistics. It consists of the safe small controller PNOZmulti 2 with new functionalities for synchronisation monitoring and activation of the safety laser scanners PSENscan. As the second component in the safety solution, PSENscan ensure productive area monitoring. Also, the industrial firewall SecurityBridge offers protection against unauthorised access from outside.
