Pilz presents at the Health & Safety Review Conference 2019

We are excited and honoured to be speaking at the HSR Conference 2019 on May 9th in the Red Cow Hotel, Newlands Cross. Our Engineering Manager Wesley O'Shea will be giving an outline of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, working safely with Robots & Cobots and the challenges facing OSH depts in the adoption of these techniques.

Wesley will be presenting on the following topic "Advanced Manufacturing Technologies - working safely with Robots and Cobots"

Today we are in the middle of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Industry 4.0 will transform production, with estimated gains of up to 30% in speed and 25% in efficiency. It will change traditional production relationships among suppliers, producers, and customers - as well as between human and machine. This presentation will focus on cobotics (a system where humans and robots co-operate is called a cobotic system), augmented and virtual reality and how adopting these technologies will lead to OSH breakthroughs throughout manufacturing industry.

The immediate benefits of cobotics and other technologies, through reduced exposure of workers to hazardous environments and ergonomic hazards, are well documented. OSH departments face formidable challenges in the adoption of these new technologies. To change the journey from being a passenger to being a leader, the onus is on the OSH professional to broaden and deepen their practical knowledge about digital technologies and the related use cases - and then develop and implement tailored digital OSH strategies.
