This advanced level training will introduce to you the processes and standards that are important in the design and evaluation of safety-relevant control systems utilising ISO 13849-1 and IEC 62061.

Objectives

This advanced level training will introduce to you the processes and standards that are important in the design and evaluation of safety-relevant control systems. This training course addresses how the latest versions of the safety-related control systems standards ISO 13849-1:2023 (AS/NZS 4024.1503) and IEC 62061:2021 (AS/NZS 62061) are applied in automation and equipment design.

This training is particularly suited to those involved in the design, implementation or assessment of safety control systems.

  • Introduction to Australian and International legislation and standards
  • Standards for safety-related control systems
    • ISO 13849-1 (of which AS/NZS 4024.1503 is based on, but the 2006 edition)
    • IEC 62061 (AS/NZS 62061)
  • Detailed overview of the design principles for safety-related control systems
  • Calculating the safety integrity level (SIL) and the performance level (PL)
