Failsafe analogue value processing on hydrogen refuelling stations

The industry-proven safe small controller PNOZmulti 2 uses failsafe analogue value processing to reliably monitor transfer processes and compliance with relevant parameters and critical limit values for pressure and temperature, as well as the loading and unloading speed on hydrogen refuelling stations and other collection points. The "Safe ramp monitoring" block integrated within the PNOZmulti Configurator enables precise limit value setting with dynamic limit value monitoring up to safety level SIL 3.

Burning hydrogen - but safely!

Furnaces that are "H2 ready" or are to be converted to hydrogen combustion must deal with the technical requirements for industrial hydrogen burners. These requirements are clearly explained in ISO/TR 15916. The standard relates to the properties of hydrogen combustion. For example, flame monitoring is crucial because hydrogen flames are almost invisible. Sensor technology for hydrogen leaks and flame monitoring, as well as the gas control section (pressure, temperature, safety valves), must be safely monitored and controlled.

Pilz offers certified burner controllers as well as services in this area. Pilz can provide support with services such as the risk assessment of furnaces. This is based on the international standard ISO 13577, Industrial furnaces and associated processing equipment — Safety (4 parts) and PAS 4445:2025, Hydrogen-fired equipment for use in industrial and commercial (non-domestic) settings, a code of practice published by the British Standards Institution (BSI). This contains technical guidelines for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of hydrogen-fired equipment in non-domestic environments such as factories, power stations or large commercial installations.
