Transceiver

The term “Transceiver” is a combination of “Transmitter” and “Receiver”. The transceiver implements a network station’s physical network access to the Ethernet. On modern Ethernet topologies such as 10Base2 and 10BaseT, it is integrated on the network card. Only on AUI connections (10Base5) is the transceiver fitted as an external component directly on the network cable.
