The visible glue joint in furniture may soon be a thing of the past: A LaserTec procedure developed by HOMAG welds edges and panel material without leaving a visible joint.
For edge processing in its machines for the furniture industry, HOMAG relies, among other things, on the use of high-power lasers - and therefore also on the freely configurable safety system PNOZmulti from Pilz. So HOMAG avoids potential hazards at the machine operator's workplace.
The HOMAG edge banding machine KAL 370 profiLine uses a diode laser to apply the various edges. High-power lasers with a performance from 2.5 kW to approx. 4 kW are extremely dangerous per se: Any contact with the skin or the eye would lead to serious injuries or even death.
PNOZmulti from Pilz therefore provides the integrated safety management for the KAL 370: When the protective hood is opened deliberately or accidentally, a secure safety gate monitoring system with electromagnetic process guarding, the PSENslock from Pilz triggers the immediate safe shutdown of the laser. In addition to the emergency stop pushbuttons, PNOZmulti monitors the correct start position of the laser and the presence of a workpiece. Simultaneously, the safety system monitors the current flow at the laser and the installed blowing nozzle for smoke and fire.
With the laserTec-method HOMAG achieves the highest standards in edge processing. Customers are convinced by the benefits of the procedure.
