Railway infrastructure

We digitalise your infrastructure for rail transport

Railway infrastructure

Has your railway infrastructure had its day? Is it difficult or even impossible to get hold of spare parts? Do you associate fault diagnostics with tiresome car journeys? Get around the availability bottlenecks and invest now in the railway automation of the future.

We can enable a modernised railway infrastructure as well as safe railway operation! Our safe railway automation includes digital remote access to your interlockings as well as rail safety technology, such as control and monitoring of level crossings, electrical, locally-set points (EOW) or clear track signalling systems, for example. From engineering and project configuration through to service and maintenance.

Projects from our reference list:

Move locomotives safely

Reliable, remote monitoring of trains

Protecting level crossings up to SIL 4

Wherever atrain crosses a street, safety is the top priority. With our safety technology, we guarantee that barriers close safely and at the right time, that signalling technology works perfectly and that the train stops in time in the case of danger. That way, level crossings are safer and more reliable for both railway operators and car drivers.

This is what our safe level crossings offer:

  • Monitoring of the barrier drive and barrier end positions:
  • Free space monitoring: trains are detected using axle counters and track circuits / vehicles within range of the barriers are detected via camera systems
  • Signalling technology: safe measurement of the failure level of LEDs in LED modules
  • Recording and transfer of status data for preventive maintenance
  • Remote diagnostics via secure fibre-optic connection or cloud

Safe monitoring of point mechanisms

For a train to run smoothly, it's important that points switch safely and reliably. Our automation system PSS 4000-R monitors the end position and the locking of the points. It ensures that the train stops in good time if the points are set incorrectly or the point position indicators have failed. So the train stays safely on the tracks and the passengers are unharmed.

These are the functions we offer:

  • Monitoring of end positions and locking
  • Monitoring of points signals
  • Reliable points heating
  • Recording and transfer of status data for preventive maintenance
  • Remote diagnostics via secure fibre-optic connection or cloud

Reference example from our project list

Retrofit to electronic interlockings (EIT)

We'll modernise your relay interlockings! Our automation system PSS 4000-R guarantees safe data transfer over several kilometres. The individual controllers can be decentralised and distributed over a distance of several kilometres. The data from the axle counter, relating to free track sections or train speeds, is transferred centrally to the interlockings.

These are the functions that our electronic interlockings (EIT) offer:

  • Monitoring of safety-related signals and track elements along the entire line
  • Block adaptation between relay interlockings and electronic interlockings (EIT)
  • Remote control of electronic interlockings
  • Retrofit from relay technology
  • Recording and transfer of status data for preventive maintenance

Networking of proprietary infrastructure using object controllers

EULYNX stands for standardised interfaces and the ability to exchange components for control and safety technology beyond borders. Modules from a variety of manufacturers can be interconnected into one system.

For digitalisation of the rail industry, we worked with ProRail, the largest railway infrastructure operator in the Netherlands, to develop our automation system PSS 4000-R as a EULYNX adapter. It can be used to convert incoming signals, to or from interlockings for example, into control commands, based on the communication protocol RaSTA. These can then be interpreted by the end device – in this case the points.

These are the functions we offer for migrating to EULYNX:

  • Secure network communication in accordance with the EULYNX standard (RaSTA)
  • Control of track elements
  • Monitoring of safety-related signals along the entire line
  • Recording and transfer of status data for preventive maintenance
