Your safety circuit is easy to create on the PC using the PNOZmulti Configurator. The configuration tool supports you with the project design, configuration, documentation and commissioning of Pilz controllers.

On the graphics-based, Windows®-compliant user interface all elements are available for your safety circuit as icons or in selection menus. Online help with documentation is available during configuration of the safety circuit. Once it is complete, the tool checks the circuit for any errors.

The fully configured safety circuit can be certified to protect it from unwanted changes. You can edit, amend or expand uncertified configurations of your safety circuit at any time. Simply call them up in the PNOZmulti Configurator! The configuration can be printed out and used as documentation.

New: PNOZmulti Configurator Software Version 10.11

The PNOZmulti Configurator is a software tool used to configure the safe small controllers PNOZmulti. Software Version 10.11 enables you to use the real-time Ethernet SafetyNET p RTFL to configure a secure data exchange between PNOZmulti 2 base units (PNOZ m B0 bzw. B1) and the safe motion solution PMCprotego DS.

PMCprotego DS is composed of the servo amplifier PMCprotego D and the safety card PMCprotego S3. 32-bit data is exchanged via RTFL, enabling short reaction times for your application. Previously you could connect up to 16 PNOZmulti 2 base units in a linear topology via the expansion module PNOZ m EF SafetyNET. Now it is also possible to incorporate the safe motion solution PMCprotego DS into the SafetyNET p network, creating a safe drive solution in conjunction with PNOZmulti 2. PNOZmulti 2 monitors the drive solution and ensures the movement is stopped in a controlled and therefore safe manner.

Another new feature from Version 10.11 are selectable tolerance times for track signals from the PNOZmulti 2 motion monitoring modules PNOZ m EF 1MM/2MM. A new encoder type for proximity switches with reduced diagnostics is also available, for use in wind turbines.

PNOZmulti Configurator Version 10.10 with advanced functionalities

Safety and security combined - use the new function element for simple configuration of access permissions on plant and machinery
The reader unit PITreader with RFID technology can be used to implement authentications and authorisations for plant and machinery. The options range from a simple enable and authentication of specific machine component functions to a complex hierarchical permission matrix. PITreader can be used flexibly as a standalone device or in conjunction with a controller from Pilz, in particular the base unit PNOZ m B1.
Users can authenticate themselves on the PNOZmulti by inserting a transponder key into the read area of the PITreader; they will then be authorised to carry out certain operations. The permission on the transponder key must meet the condition for the required permission as configured.

Do you also need a safe operating mode selection system?
Then add your PITreader to the combined operating mode selection and access permission system PITmode fusion. This combines safety and security functions in one system. To do this you will need a separate evaluation unit (safe evaluation unit = SEU) in addition to the reader unit PITreader. The devices enable functionally safe operating mode selection and the control of access permissions on plant and machinery. Configure the "operating mode selector switch" function element on the PNOZmulti Configurator and link it to the new PITreader authentication/authorisation function element.

Reduce engineering times by creating macros for the base unit PNOZ m B1
The logic connections that are defined between inputs and outputs can be combined into macro elements. Once created, macro elements are stored in the macro library. They are then available for use in all further configurations. The simple import and export function and the ability to edit macros within the editor reduce your engineering time and save costs!

PNOZmulti Configurator Version 10.9 – now also with offline simulation

From Version 10.9 you have the option to test your configured user program prior to commissioning using the "Simulation" function. In a first release you calculate the logic elements, in further releases you calculate all the elements with the simulation. Elements that are not simulated can be switched to the required state by forcing the outputs. This way, you can implement a simulation of the overall application. The targeted forcing of link elements enables you to simulate your application only in parts. This saves you from having to define all the inputs!

Configuration of the analogue input module PNOZ m EF 4AI – for safe process monitoring

From version 10.8 of the PNOZmulti Configurator, the safe analogue input module PNOZ m EF 4AI of the configurable small controllers PNOZmulti 2 is supported. The expansion module provides four independent safe analogue current inputs. The configuration is mode in the module program mIQ.

You can configure the following monitoring functions in the software tool:

  • Work area monitoring in accordance with the NAMUR NE43 recommendation or freely configurable
  • Scaling function
  • Plausibility check
  • Mathematical operations
  • Constant
  • Threshold value monitoring
  • Range monitoring

For diagnostic purposes, an exact analogue value can be forwarded to a fieldbus or an OPC server. The dynamic program display has been expanded for the analogue modules. The analogue values can also be displayed in a variable list. Find out more about the various functions in the video!

Configuration of the dual-pole semiconductor output module PNOZ m EF 8DI2DOT:

Migration Assistant on PNOZmulti 2 project

If you are converting your hardware from PNOZmulti or PNOZmulti Mini to the configurable safe small controllers PNOZmulti 2, there is a convenient migration tool from Version 10.2, which you can use to migrate the data from the original project. The Assistant takes care of the hardware configuration, project logic, test pulse configuration, equipment identifier, link modules, PDP67 modules, fieldbus modules and virtual I/Os and then generates a migration report. The result is stored in a new project file. The source file is untouched.

Even within the PNOZmulti it is possible to migrate from the base unit PNOZ m B0 to B1. There are certain restrictions for migration; details can be found in the documentation.

Safe Ethernet connection

The PNOZmulti Configurator is the original tool for configuring safety circuits with the configurable control systems PNOZmulti. The block "Safe Ethernet Connection Status" (SEC) can be used for safe communication with the controllers in the automation system PSS 4000. Creating macros

Create safety circuits on your PC using the Configurator for the configurable control systems PNOZmulti. You can work even more efficiently by creating macros. Parts of the configuration can be combined into macro elements at the click of a mouse.

PNOZmulti Configurator from Version 8, including macros

The configuration tool supports you with the project design, configuration, documentation and commissioning of Pilz controllers. Macros help you work even more efficiently. Once the macros have been created they are automatically stored in the Project Manager and can be reused at any time.

User interface texts translatable into every language

The user can translate all texts (project, diagnostics, GUI) in the PNOZmulti Configurator. This means that the Configurator can now be used in the local language in any country in the world. So you can generate your own tool languages for those languages not available from Pilz.

Licensing tailored to meet your requirements

In order to use the full scope of the PNOZmulti Configurator for your safety circuit, you will need a valid licence in addition to the software package. (Without a licence, the PNOZmulti Configurator can only be used in a demo version.)

A range of licences are available to meet varying requirements:

  • Basic Licence: single user licence, issued to one owner (company name and location/project must be stated)
  • User Licence: discounted licence for an additional workstation, issued to the owner of a basic licence.
  • Lite Licence: licence limited to the base units PNOZ m0p and PNOZ mm0p, for use on one workstation.
  • Multi User Licence: multi-user licence, graduated according to the number of workstations (up to 25, 50, 100 and over 100).
  • Project Licence: licence to use the software within a contractually limited framework.
  • Basic/User/Multi User/Project Upgrade Licence: reduced-price licence for owners of a licence to upgrade to a newer version of the software.
  • Time Limited Licence: basic licence limited to 2, 3 or 4 months.

These licence types are available as a full version or service version:

  • The full version provides the whole function range of a licence.
  • The service version of a licence is intended for service and maintenance. It only offers limited editing features.
