Pilz at “all about automation” 2023 in Wetzlar, Chemnitz and Düsseldorf - New Machinery Regulation – and now?

The EU Machinery Regulation makes Industrial Security mandatory: In future, how will machinery be placed on the market safely in accordance with EU law? Experts from Pilz will answer questions about the EU Machinery Regulation at the regional industrial automation exhibitions “all about automation” 2023, in Wetzlar (13 - 14 September), Chemnitz (27 - 28 September) and Düsseldorf (18 - 19 October). With its comprehensive Identification and Access Management system, which clearly regulates access permissions, Pilz is also presenting a component for greater Safety and Industrial Security on machinery.

The “Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230” was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 29 June 2023. Machine manufacturers and operators have 42 months in which to meet the new requirements on plant and machinery. In the Talk Lounge at “all about automation”, Pilz experts will explain the fundamental changes to the type-examination procedure, risk analysis and evaluation of a “significant change”, which result from the EU Machinery Regulation. By talking to the experts, both machine manufacturers and operators will receive helpful tips on how to safely place their machinery on the market in future, in accordance with EU law.

The key to comprehensive Safety and Security
To protect plant or machine processes from manipulation or operating errors, a comprehensive Identification and Access Management system represents a solution that combines Safety and Industrial Security. So, with the digital access permission system PITreader for example, RFID technology can be used to protect applications from unauthorised access. Individual permissions are granted to authorised users only, on a compact RFID transponder, which they use to identify themselves directly on the safety gate. Visitors to the trade fair will see experts from Pilz demonstrate on site how administrators manage the use of multiple PITreader units efficiently.

New: Authentication in the appropriate format
The highlight of the exhibition model: With the access permission system PITreader card unit from Pilz, operators can now also assign permissions on RFID transponders in card or sticker format, rather than the PITreader transponder key. With the new transponder types, operating companies have greater flexibility when managing access permissions. If the company already uses RFID-capable cards, these can also be used in conjunction with the PITreader card unit.
