On the Automatica from 19. To 22. June, the automation company Pilz shows its system solutions for the service robotics range: It is a premiere in Munich for the new service robotics modules of the company. Further exhibition topics are the comprehensive Pilz service portfolio and the offer of safe sensor technology for robot cells and for human-robot-collaboration (HRC). The visitors will also receive an insight into the R&D activities of the automation company.

Automatica 2018: Premiere for Pilz service robotics modules - service robotics goes Industry
As a system supplier for service robotics, Pilz can comprehensively support the users in implementing complete robot applications: Beyond the necessary safety technology, the Pilz portfolio also includes safety gate systems or safe sensor technology for monitoring of areas and zones. There are also the necessary services for the CE marking.
Modular service robotics for the industry
It is a premiere in Munich for the new service robotics modules. With them, users in the industrial environment to assemble their individual service robot applications. The new range of solutions for service robotics includes a manipulator module with 6 axes and a load of 6 kg, the control module with drive and control technology and the operator module including an operator and visualisation software developed by Pilz. Beyond the classic service robotics applications in a non-industrial environment and the use of Pilz robotics modules with modular, semi-automated small robot cells in the industrial environment, the new modules are especially suitable for pick-and-place applications and applications with automatic guided vehicle (FTS).
Pilz robots: Live and in action!
Visitors will be able to witness the modules in action on the Pilz stand, and interact with the robot systems: Upon request, a dual-arm robot also from Pilz, wraps a workpiece that another robot transfers on an automated guided vehicle to a manual work station, where it is handed safely to the visitor. The transfer of the workpiece is performed using the operating concept of the dynamic safety mat PSENmat.
On view, the new service robotics modules on the Automatica are also at the stands of the Fraunhofer Institute IPA, the Wood and Metal Employer's Liability Insurance Association, the gripper technology specialist Schunk and the Ruhr University of Bochum.
Safe sensor technology rounds off the package
For the protection of humans and machine, various sensor technology solutions from Pilz are used, such as the dynamic pressure sensitive mat PSENmat and the safety laser scanner PSENscan. The former in particular combines individual operating concepts and safe area monitoring of human-robot workstations.
Insights into the R&D activities of Pilz
On its stand in this Automatica, the company again gives insights into its research and development activities in the robotics range. Pilz shows the prototype of a dual robot, and it presents the options that the Open-Source-Framework ROS (Robot Operating System), previously known from the research environment, can offers for the industrial use.
