Safety and Security in Transformation

Digital transformation demands a review of the safety of plant and machinery. The issue of Security is increasingly becoming a critical success factor. How can we overcome the challenges of digital transformation? We can provide comprehensive support during this process. In Nuremberg we will be presenting technologies and solutions that make your plant and machinery Safe and Secure.

Our exhibition highlights:

  • Systematic connectivity:
    • IO-Link Safety: Communicate safely at field level - in one system
    • Safety-over-EtherCAT: Safe data transfer combined with flexible architectures
  • Industrial Security – Products and services for secured access and secure data
  • Machinery Safety – Versatile safety locking devices for your safety gate

Our exhibition highlights:

Systematic connectivity

Industrial communication – particularly at field level – must be able to provide safe data transfer up to the “last” sensor and additionally guarantee more availability and more flexible automation. Then production processes can be optimised.
The challenges are safe data communication as well as fast installation. At SPS we will be the first supplier to present a complete solution comprising an IO-Link Safety System with master, sensors, field devices and configuration tool. On an interlinked automation plant with integrated robotics you will see access protection with safety light curtains, plus safeguarding of safety gates with a control unit and safety locking device – all integrated via IO-Link Safety.

Pilz also has an automation solution with the Safety over EtherCAT (FSoE) protocol. The safe small controller PNOZmulti 2 is used as the FSoE-MainInstance (Master). Up to 4 MainInstance-MainInstance connections and up to 60 MainInstance-SubInstance connections (Master-Slave) are possible with the EtherCAT FSoE communication module, in conjunction with the base unit PNOZ m B1. In the PNOZmulti Configurator software tool, the fieldbus is configured via ESI files. What’s more, it is easy to implement safety-related networking with the safe radar sensor PSENradar and safe drive technology PMC – both with FSoE functionality.

Industrial Security – There's no Safety without Security!

With the new Machinery Regulation, the issue of Industrial Security will become mandatory by 2027 at the latest. In the connected world of automation, Safety and Security are now a unit: one is no longer conceivable without the other. Today we are already in the middle of a change process. The new requirements bring new challenges for machine manufacturers and operators. Pilz is prepared, and can help you through this process with appropriate advice, knowledge transfer through specific training, implementation of services and product application:

  • The expert training course “CESA – Certified Expert for Security in Automation” specifically addresses the challenges and threats posed by cyber attacks, manipulation or improper operation, and provides knowledge on appropriate protective measures and application of the standard 62443. CESA is designed in cooperation with TÜV NORD. After successfully completing the test, you will receive the globally recognised certificate that is issued by TÜV NORD as proof of your personal certification.

  • Pilz offers a comprehensive range of services for Machinery Safety and specifically for Industrial Security. Under the keyword Industrial Security Consulting Service (ISCS), you will find everything you need when it comes to the protection requirements analysis, risk analysis, drafting an Industrial Security concept and verification of the implemented Industrial Security measures

  • The SecurityBridge firewall provides comprehensive protection against unauthorised access for industrial automation networks. It monitors the data traffic between the PC and controller and reports any unauthorised changes to the control project.

  • With "Identification and Access Management (I.A.M.)", you get Safety and Security in one system, from user authentication and operating mode selection, or data and network security, through to access management!
New: The operation element PIT oe ETH with activatable Ethernet port, which can be used for security: only authorised personnel have the ability to activate this interface temporarily, for new configurations for example.

Work safely and productively – with the new safety locking devices

We offer a versatile portfolio of safety locking devices to safeguard movable guards. Whether process guarding or safe guard locking for personnel protection, accessible safety gates or small covers – our safety switches with guard locking can be used for every application: cost-optimised and flexible. New sensors provide even more options:

  • The new PSENmlock mini is ideal for space-critical applications, such as flaps or covers.
  • The new generation PSENslock 2 in a new design is ideal for use even where there are robust requirements.
  • The safety gate system PSENmgate offers two functions integrated within one system: safe guard locking combined with compatible control elements.
