Safety gate system PSENmlock: safe interlocking and safe guard locking in a single product

The safety gate system PSENmlock offers safe interlocking and safe guard locking for personal and process protection up to the highest category PL e.

Safe guard locking is possible because the guard locking device has dual-channel operation. As such, the switch is particularly suitable for use on machines with a hazardous overrun that also require safe guard locking up to PL d or PL e.

In conjunction with Pilz control technology, you get a safe complete solution for monitoring and activating guard locking for guards.

Choose between the PSENmlock versions

You can choose between PSENmlock basic versions for individual wiring and PSENmlock versions for series connection. Both versions are available with power reset or with automatic reset, and with different coding too.

In addition to the PSENmlock basic versions for individual wiring, we offer additional versions for series connection. They enable affordable installation since less time and effort is needed for wiring and because the safe input and output signals can be connected in parallel.

Combining PSENmlock with Safety Device Diagnostics (SDD) translates into simple and comprehensive safety switch diagnostics and thus reduces downtimes. What’s more, SDD enables targeted activation of individual switches or gates without any need for costly individual wiring in the control cabinet. This gives you low-cost series connection and minimises your wiring work.

Versions with power reset and automatic reset

PSENmlock versions with power reset and automatic reset

The PSENmlock range offers versions with power reset and automatic reset. While the versions with power reset require resetting (i.e. switching off the power supply) after the escape release has been pressed, this is not necessary for the versions with automatic reset. Here, the reset is performed by restoring the escape release and closing the protective device.

Emergency release cannot be used on types with automatic reset. The reason for this, according to EN ISO 14119, is that the emergency release must always be reset by means of a tool or another measure (e.g. power reset).

PSENmlock door handle module with an integrated escape release

The PSENmlock door handle module gives you a handle with an integrated actuator and an integrated escape release – perfect for the safety gate system PSENmlock. The yellow handle (outside) enables extension of the actuator to open or close the gate. The escape release is operated with the red handle (inside). The PSENmlock door handle module is suitable for fitting on the inside and the outside of the gate as well as for right-hinged and left-hinged gates. It has a locking insert for up to five locks to prevent the machine from restarting and can be used with the coded and fully coded PSENmlock switches.

Instead of the PSENmlock door handle module, you can also combine simple door handles with PSENmlock. Our separate door handles for hinged and sliding gates are perfectly coordinated to PSENmlock, providing an economical, space-saving solution for safeguarding safety gates.

Two escape release versions can be combined with all versions of PSENmlock

Escape releases

As optional accessories, the two types of escape release can be combined with all PSENmlock versions. 

  • A bar is used to connect the PSENml escape release directly to the sensor.
  • The PSENml escape release cordset is mounted on the PSENmlock via a pull-push wire. It allows the safety gate switch and the escape release to be installed in a physically separate location.

Combine PSENmlock with the pushbutton unit PITgatebox and you’ll get additional control and pushbutton elements to make operating your safety gate system a breeze: from E-STOP pushbuttons and illuminated pushbuttons to key switches and key-operated pushbuttons.

PITgatebox versions featuring an integrated access permission system PITreader are available too. This ensures that only authorised employees have access to the installation and can execute commands such as stop, unlock, lock or acknowledge. You therefore prevent undesirable machine downtime or loss of quality.

Applications: Robust design and high holding force for heavy doors

With a holding force of up to 7 500 N, the safety gate system PSENmlock prevents protective devices from opening unintentionally and offers maximum safety.

Whether it’s integrated into the PSENmlock door handle module or used as a separate accessory, an optional escape release means that PSENmlock can also be used on accessible gates to machines with poorly visible areas. The escape release is integrated directly into the handle with the PSENmlock door handle module. In contrast, the remote escape release offers the option of fitting the safety gate switch in a location that’s inaccessible to the operator, meaning your employees have optimum protection in the event of danger.

The type with series connection is ideal wherever multiple doors have to be fitted with safety gate switches and networking of the sensors plays an important role Compared with series connection in the field without Safety Device Diagnostics, working with SDD allows you targeted control of individual switches or gates. You also benefit from rapid, comprehensive diagnostics in the event of a fault, enabling high machine availability at all times.

The pushbutton unit PITgatebox featuring an integrated access permission system PITreader is ideal if access to your machine is to be controlled (i.e. access is only granted to authorised individuals). It prevents you from having to contend with undesirable machine downtime or loss of quality.
