Financial year 2021: The Pilz Group achieves record turnover and believes it is well positioned for future developments - tested and strengthened by the crisis: Pilz on course for growth

The 2021 financial year has been a record year for the Pilz corporate group. The safe automation expert recorded a turnover of 348.4 million Euro, an increase in turnover of around 22 per cent over the previous year. Following the global economic crisis, cyber-attack and Covid pandemic, and despite continuing supply bottlenecks, the family business has surpassed the turnover level of the pre-crisis 2018 and is once again on course for growth. The company expects 2022 to be a challenging year, however is looking to the future full of confidence.

Susanne Kunschert: Financial year 2021 and forecast for 2022

Recent years have not been easy for any of us, presenting Pilz employees all over the world with new challenges every day. But the result from 2021 is a positive confirmation that the effort has been worth it. We as a group maintained our path while our employees around the world worked tirelessly, flexibly responding to changes. For that my brother and I are very grateful. Our optimism remains undiminished and we are certain that we will emerge from this time even stronger.

Thomas Pilz: The Spirit of Safety in Digital Automation

From the beginning of the industrial revolution to the start of the last century, the primary focus for machinery was productivity. The cost of human labour was low, which unfortunately meant no impetus to invest in protective measures. Machinery safety as we know it today dates back not even 40 years. 1986 brought us a change to the Machinery Directive; from this point machinery safety became mandatory in Europe.

Europe must digitise its entire rail network in the next 10 – 15 years to secure, improve and revolutionise railway operations. This is the only way to achieve higher capacity, greater punctuality, more energy efficiency and thus green mobility! The use of modern, safe and environmentally friendly technologies for railways is thus the path of the future. On the basis of this reasoning, we have repositioned Pilz.

TÜV Süd certifies Pilz product development in accordance with IEC 62443-4-1 - Pilz's development is safe – and secure

TÜV Süd certifies the development processes of the automation company Pilz in accordance with the international security standard IEC 624434-4-1. So Pilz's development is demonstrably secure: Right from a product's design phase, security features are regarded systematically; risks are identified and, ideally, already rectified within the product. This addition to the existing functional safety management certification promises Pilz customers double security from now on.

Pilz at the Hannover Messe 2022 (Hall 9, Stand D 17) - "Transforming Automation" with Pilz!

At the hybrid Hannover Messe 2022 (30 May – 2 June 2022), Pilz will be presenting complete automation solutions including safety and security, which allow automation to be implemented individually and flexibly. Visitors to the exhibition can obtain information about individually adaptable solutions in person on the Pilz stand. The focus: efficiency.
