Safety-related equipment

Does the Machinery Directive include a restriction stating that emergency stop pushbuttons may not be designed as mushroom-headed pushbuttons?

Section 1.2.4.3 of the Guide to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC describes "Emergency stop devices". The requirements of emergency stop devices are also defined in DIN EN ISO 13850 under 4.4.

Both these sources show that the emergency stop must be adapted to the respective hazards and designed accordingly.
Consequently, the requirements for implementation of the emergency stop must be taken from the risk assessment and safety concept.
