PSS 4000: The Industry 4.0-compatible automation system

Thanks to the consistent distribution of the control functions, projects with the automation system PSS 4000 can be implemented more easily and with greater flexibility than on existing systems.   • Classic automation: One centralised control system monitors the plant/machine. All signals are processed through this control system, all sensors and actuators are connected to this control system. Thanks to decentralised I/O modules, some I/O functions can be transferred to the periphery, resulting in shorter paths for the sensor wiring, for example. Local signal processing does not generally take place.
     
  • Consistent distribution of control functions: On the automation system, the control functions are fully distributed and transferred to the periphery. Control data, failsafe data and states are exchanged and synchronised via the real-time Ethernet SafetyNET p. For the control function, therefore, it makes no difference where the respective program section is processed. Instead of a centralised control system, our automation system provides a modular user program within a centralised project. This enables simple, standardised handling across the whole project.

Consistent distribution of control functions

With the automation system PSS 4000, control functions can be distributed directly to the periphery without any problem. This enables a centralised view of distributed automation structures - and simple handling. As a user you can create a modular user program and therefore a project, through which all network subscribers can be configured/programmed. Communication via the real-time Ethernet SafetyNET p also enables easier interaction between individual components. Network subscribers communicate automatically - no additional configuration is required.

 

Merging of safety and automation

The automation system PSS 4000 focuses on the merging of safety and automation. This enables the implementation of automation solutions for both safety and automation; solutions which as users you will find easy to handle. The system is physically mixed but free from feedback. Programmers and users are free to combine configuration with function blocks or programming with source code in EN/IEC 61131-3 compliant editors. A key element here is the software platform PAS4000 with its various editors and blocks. Standardised editors are provided, which can be used for automation as well as safety-related tasks.

Hardware-independent operation

Previously it was necessary for hardware to be selected at the start of the configuration/programming process. Subsequent modifications were very costly. On PSS 4000 it's different: the hardware can be selected and the program divided on the hardware at a later point in the process because it is largely independent of the configuration stage. For example, if it is established that two control systems PSSuniversal PLC are reaching their functional limits, a third control system can be integrated. The user program can be redistributed with little effort.
