Safety systems PNOZmulti – Expansion modules

Your application is the deciding factor: modular expansion of base units

Safety systems PNOZmulti – Expansion modules

If your plant expands, the PNOZmulti simply expands with it. Expansion modules are available to extend the modular system; these can be used in any combination to suit the requirement. The configurable safety systems always comprise a base unit and optional expansion modules.

A base unit has inputs, relay outputs, safe semiconductor outputs, outputs for automation applications, cascade input and cascade output. The number of inputs and outputs can be increased at any time by the expansion modules. Special expansion modules enable e.g. safe speed monitoring.

Benefits to you

  • Easy configuration with the software tool PNOZmulti Configurator
  • Cost-optimised thanks to modular concept – you only pay for what you need
  • Low wiring costs thanks to plug-in connection terminals

Features of the expansion modules

Features of the expansion modules
  • Position of the expansion modules is determined in the PNOZmulti Configurator
  • Modules are interconnected by a jumper
  • Plug-in connection terminals (spring-loaded terminals or screw terminals as accessories)
  • Maximum of 12 expansion modules and 1 fieldbus module on one base unit
  • Maximum of 8 expansion modules on right of base unit (e.g. input and output modules, safe speed and standstill monitor)
  • Left of base unit: max. 4 expansion modules and max. 1 fieldbus module
  • Link module PNOZ ml1p for connecting 2 base units
  • Link module PNOZ ml2p for connecting decentralised peripherals: 4 decentralised modules PDP67 per link module (maximum of 16 decentralised modules per base unit)

Speed and standstill monitors: safe axis monitoring

Together with its safe speed and standstill monitors, the safety systems PNOZmulti enable drives to be monitored safely in set-up and automatic mode, up to and including PL e (EN ISO 13849-1). This way up to two axes can be monitored independently via incremental encoders. The set values are entered quite simply in the graphics configuration tool PNOZmulti Configurator.

Monitoring analogue input signals safely

The safe analogue input module PNOZ ma1p provides two independent, safe inputs. For each input, up to eight limit values can be defined in PNOZmulti Configurator with just a few clicks of the mouse. The inputs are suitable for connecting transducers or encoders with standardised 10 V voltage signals or 20 mA current signals.

As a user you benefit from rapid commissioning and reduced wiring. With the analogue input module, PNOZmulti is particularly suitable for the following industries: process engineering, cable cars/lift systems and burner controls. It is also available as a coated version for rugged industrial applications.

Even complex tasks can be mastered within a network

The safe link module PNOZ ml1p enables data to be exchanged easily between several PNOZmulti base units. The benefit to you: If the physical limits of a device have been exhausted, simply use more PNOZmulti! In that way you can even monitor and control more complex plant and machinery. Selective shutdown and commissioning of plant sections are also a possibility.

The modular structure of the PNOZmulti enables you to connect up to four PNOZ ml1p link modules to each base unit, allowing both ring and tree structures to be established. You can quickly and easily allocate the information to be transferred within the PNOZmulti Configurator. No specialist knowledge of safe bus systems is required, nor do the connected devices need to be specifically addressed.

Decentralised in the field with safe sensor technology

The safe link module PNOZ ml2p is used to safely transfer the input information from decentralised modules to the control system PNOZmulti. Your sensor technology can be connected outside the control cabinet via the IP67 input module PDP67 F 8DI ION. The software tool PNOZmulti Configurator means you have less planning and design work! You can now not only monitor all safety functions reliably, but also do this directly in the field. As a result, distributed and decentralised plants can also be implemented with PNOZmulti.
