InnoTrans 2022: Pilz shows automation solutions for the future of rail transport - Simple, safe digitalisation

Digital automation solutions for a safe railway infrastructure are the focus of Pilz's presence at InnoTrans 2002 (20-23 September 2022 in Berlin). One innovation is the EULYNX adapter, which enables the cross-manufacturer EULYNX standard to be used in existing interlockings. In addition, the automation company will be showing its range of machinery safety services, supporting operators and manufacturers in the railway sector in safeguarding their business premises.

At InnoTrans, Pilz will be showing how railway infrastructure operators can benefit from the opportunities of digitalisation using automation solutions. With open interfaces and standardised COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) solutions, Pilz offers a portfolio to replace proprietary applications. The offer presented at InnoTrans includes classic railway applications such as points controllers, interface solutions or level crossings, but also industry-related railway applications such as securing the railway premises, for example.

Open railway markets thanks to open communication
At InnoTrans, Pilz will be presenting the EULYNX adapter, to illustrate how the future of the railway could look. Standardisation of the interlocking technology is the declared objective of the European EULYNX project. Within this standard, object controllers translate the digital control commands from interlockings into analogue signals, for points for example. With the EULYNX adapter, based on the automation system PSS 4000, existing interlockings become compatible with object controllers. Due to its openness and compatibility, the EULYNX adapter represents an important component for implementing transnational, manufacturer-independent digitalisation in control and safety technology.
As part of the accompanying Speakers' Corner, Jan van der Heide, Business Development Manager Railway at Pilz, will be explaining how to move from local, country-specific solutions to an open railway market. His presentation “From object controller to transnational digitalisation of the railway infrastructure - How EULYNX can accelerate your ambitions”, takes place on 21 September from 13.30 – 14.30.
Michael Fohrer, consultant with Business Unit Rail at Pilz, will join other industry experts to discuss the subject of “Redefining mobility: Future workshop with the German Railway Industry Association (VDB).” This will take place at the VDB Dialogue Forum on 23 September, from 10.00 – 12:00 in +palais.Berlin, Hall 19.

Services for the safety of plant and operations
Pilz supplements its automation offer with services such as project planning and project management, programming, documentation, as well as support with the approval process. All are specifically tailored to the requirements of the rail industry.
As an expert in plant and machinery safety, Pilz has spent decades offering comprehensive services, tailored to the individual requirements of machine builders and users, protecting human, machine and the environment. At InnoTrans, experts from Pilz will use an interactive panel to explain the benefits that network operators and railway technology manufacturers can derive for their plant and operations from the subject of machinery safety.

Pilz will be exhibiting its innovative solutions in Berlin from 20-23 September 2022, at the international trade fair for transport technology, InnoTrans (Hall 27, Stand 550).
