The technical rules for operational safety (TRBS) are determined by the committee for operational safety and are published by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS).
The TRBS reflect the state of the art and other assured scientific findings for the provision and use of work equipment and its safe operation. So technical rules are used to specify the requirements of the industrial safety regulations. They provide assistance with defining and categorising danger points and hazard potentials and demonstrate remedial opportunities.
As with the harmonised standards, when TRBS are applied there is a "presumption of conformity" that the employer meets the requirements of the industrial safety regulations.
