Operational safety

If the changes made to a machine are not considered significant in accordance with the Product Safety Act (ProdSG), do they still need to be documented?

If it is not a significant change in accordance with the Product Safety Act (ProdSG), then the employer must assess the changed machine in accordance with the applicable health and safety regulations. It is also advisable to document why the change to the machine is not considered to be significant.

It is particularly important to take into account the industrial safety regulations (BetrSichV) and the hazard assessment in accordance with BetrSichV. This must be adapted to reflect the new conditions. In order to guarantee that the machine is safe to use, the changes to the machine may need to be included in other documents belonging to the operator' (circuit diagrams, instructions for use, etc.).
