Safety and security are essential requirements of smart production. At the SPS exhibition (26. – 28.11.19 in Nuremberg ) Pilz will be showing automation solutions that cover all aspects of safety. The focus will be on all-round concepts, which can be used to safeguard access to the machine – physically and virtually. Product innovations include new modules for the remote I/O system PSSuniversal 2 and the safe incremental encoder PSENenco for monitoring movement and position. Pilz is exhibiting in Hall 9, Stand 370. Pilz is exhibiting in Hall 9, Stand 370.

Pilz at SPS 2019 (Hall 9, Stand 370) - Doubly safe: Safe & secure automation
The automation company’s exhibition motto is “Be safe and secure with Pilz”. Using various models and live demonstrations, visitors to the Pilz stand can experience automation solutions that cover both machinery safety and industrial security.
Overall solution for safety and security
The Pilz safety gate model also serves to illustrate safe access to plant and machinery: Pilz will be demonstrating how its modular safety gate system interacts with the safe operating mode selection and access permission system PITmode. In combination with the configurable small controller PNOZmulti 2, authentications and authorisations can be implemented with particular flexibility using the reader unit PITreader with RFID technology. As an industrial firewall, the Pilz SecurityBridge protects this solution from unauthorised access and manipulations.
So Pilz offers a holistic solution approach for safety and security. Users ensure the safety of their plant and machinery without compromising on efficiency and user friendliness.
In keeping with the new name of the Nuremberg exhibition “SPS – Smart Production Solutions”, the Pilz Smart Factory will demonstrate how individual products and components from the Pilz portfolio can be joined together to form automation solutions and how these satisfy the requirements of flexible, networked production.
Pilz service robotics modules in action
The focus is on the service robotics modules from Pilz: Thanks to open interfaces and the use of the Open Source Framework ROS (Robot Operating System), users can assemble their own individual robot application. The robotics on offer from Pilz are particularly suitable for mobile applications: In Nuremberg Pilz will be using an intralogistics application to demonstrate how automated guided vehicles (AGV) can be combined with the Pilz service robotics modules.
Safety and automation: Decentralised networking
Innovations include the input and output modules in the remote I/O system PSSuniversal 2: the new analogue electronic modules are available for voltage and current signals. There is also an electronic module with six digital inputs for 120 Volt AC signals. As a result users have even greater flexibility, openness and granularity for communication within automation networks.
Precision measurement of movement and position
In combination with Pilz control solutions, the safe incremental encoder PSENenco can offer safety functions for speed, direction, acceleration and standstill with a range of safety levels for the respective function. If a machine or any machine components on machine tools or a press, for example, should change position, it sends this information to the evaluation device. The high resolution permits fast reaction times and precision measurements for monitoring movement and position.
