Guidance on Electricity at Work Regulations

The HSE updates the references to relevant regulations, standards and other publications. References to the IEE Regulations have been replaced with references to BS 7671:2001 (Requirements for electrical installations. IEE Wiring Regulations. Sixteenth edition).

This new edition of HSR25, which runs to 50 pages, is aimed at helping duty holders to meet the requirements of the Electricity at Work regulations. It will therefore be of interest and practical help to engineers (including those involved in the design, construction, operation or maintenance of electrical systems), technicians and their managers.

Technical and legal guidance on the Regulations are provided, and the Memorandum of Guidance highlights, in general terms, the nature of the precautions required to achieve high standards of electrical safety.

In addition, the book contains references to HSE guidance, as well as advice and codes of practice from other standard-making bodies and trade associations.

HSR25 covers a wide range of topics, including: duties, work activity and protective equipment; adverse or hazardous environments; insulation; conductors; earthing; connections; current; supply and isolation; working space, access and lighting; and competent persons.

Copies of 'Memorandum of guidance on the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989', second edition, (ISBN 9780717662289) can be purchased from HSE Books.
