Area Sales Engineer - South Region, UK

Pilz is recruiting for an Area Sales Engineer to join the sales team at Pilz Automation Technology to cover the southern region of UK.

Overview

Working within the Sales and Customer Support team - the Sales Engineer will manage existing business and develop new sales for the Pilz portfolio within a defined geographic area.    

The post holder will have exceptional communications skills, be approachable and have a pleasant attitude.

The role is ideal for an experienced field-based sales engineer.

Key Skills for Position

  • Time served electrical engineer
  • Good base of electrical knowledge in general aspects of machinery / automation.
  • Experience within B2B manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Experience of different industry sectors
  • Closure of sales opportunities into orders
  • Diary management

Preferential Skills

  • Health and Safety awareness  with regards to machinery
  • Previous experience / use of machinery safety products

Key Accountabilities and Duties

  • To achieve or exceed annual sales in accordance with budgets agreed with Products BDM
  • To develop new business in a defined sales area
  • To manage defined distributors and other sales partners in a defined sales area
  • To manage and report competitor activity
  • To provide a consistent and accessible point of contact for customers
  • To maintain and record sales related details and activities on a daily basis in CRM package
  • To maintain a high level of Pilz product knowledge, attending training days at the Pilz UK office and occasionally overseas
  • To deal with all correspondence as required / directed
  • To plan a sales budget each year with sales manager

General Duties

  • To attend regular team meetings and other corporate meetings as required
  • To maintain effective working relationships with all other members of Pilz staff, particularly the UK Sales and Marketing Team
  • To have competent computer skills including the use of email, Microsoft Office etc.
  • To attend exhibitions, seminars and other corporate events as required
  • To participate as required in corporate and personal improvement programs (e.g. training and competence development)
  • To undertake any other duties as required
  • To ensure that all duties are carried out in line with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy as well as any other Company requirements
  • To plan a sales budget each year with sales manager
