The Machinery Directive applies for machinery that has been placed on the market since 1995. The Machinery Directive specifies the requirements of a machine.
A risk assessment is required for the machine, among other things.
The risk assessment should state the hazards emanating from the machine, any risk reducing measures, the limits of the machinery and its intended use, for example.
This assessment will determine the requirements of the machine's working environment and any need for an operator to be on-site.
Machines that were placed on the market prior to 1995 must at least comply with Annex 1 of the BetrSichV.
Annex 1 stipulates the minimum requirements for work equipment.
