InterBus-S

InterBus-S is a fieldbus system that covers various application areas. Even today it is still frequently found in production plants in the automotive industry. The system was introduced at the Hannover Messe in 1987. Since then, further development of InterBus-S has been largely stopped, so this bus system is becoming less significant. This trend is being reinforced by the fact that Ethernet-based networks are increasing greatly in importance.

Structure of an Interbus network:

Interbus uses a master-slave access method. The bus master links simultaneously to the higher level control or bus system. In terms of topology, the bus system is designed as a ring system; this means that the subscribers are actively linked in a closed transmission path.

Benefit:

Due to the topology and protocol efficiency, Interbus transfers network data quickly (= bus cycle time) at a low (physical) transmission rate (512 KB / 2 MB). Interbus has good diagnostic options and the cycle time is independent of the cable length, so large extensions are possible.

The following product groups have an Interbus interface:

Configurable safety system PNOZmulti - Communication modules
