Pilz as exhibitor at the virtual Hannover Messe 2021 with innovations from the fields of sensor technology, small controllers and industrial security - focus on individualisation, digitalisation and security

At the world's greatest industrial exhibition the automation specialist Pilz will use its presence at the virtual exhibition to show how the keynote theme of ”Industrial Transformation” is already being implemented in industry today – including safety. The company will be focusing on individualisation and digitalisation. These are reflected in the new products: moving beyond the modular safety system and the field of small controllers PNOZmulti 2 plus industrial security, Pilz will be centering attention on its latest innovation: the safety relay myPNOZ, which was launched in February. Pilz experts will be available live to answer questions from online visitors about this product highlight.

In Pilz’s exhibition livestream “My Safety – From customer wish to individual safety solution” (Wednesday, 14.04.2021, 15:00 - 15:25), experts from Pilz will be revealing what distinguishes the innovative safety relay myPNOZ: from the digital procurement process, intuitive online tool myPNOZ Creator and tailor-made assembly in the Pilz production to fast, simple installation for customers. Features such as the “simple logic” of the modular safety relay are another focus area; these are illustrated using an example application. We will demonstrate how, with myPNOZ, Pilz can offer safe solutions that are assembled in accordance with customers’ specific individual batch size 1 requirements. Afterwards, experts from Pilz will answer your questions directly.

Implementing safety gate solutions - safe & secure
Another key issue on the virtual exhibition stand is the way to protect safety gates efficiently and the safety and security requirements that play a role in the respective application. The product focus is on the PSENmlock handle module, an addition to the modular safety gate system from Pilz: as part of the comprehensive safety solution, the new handle module has an integrated actuator as well as an integrated escape release. In conjunction with the secure safety gate sensor PSENmlock for safe interlocking and safe guard locking, the pushbutton unit PITgatebox with the optional integrated access permission system PITreader, the diagnostic solution Safety Device Diagnostics for safe series connection and the small controller PNOZmulti 2, it represents an individually adaptable, flexible solution for accessible gates.

Small controller as safety monitor
Safe complete solutions for safety gate monitoring emerge in conjunction with the configurable safe small controller PNOZmulti 2 from Pilz, but that’s not all - PNOZmulti 2 is a safety component for the most wide-ranging areas. From now on, further applications or implementation scenarios can be implemented flexibly with the configurable small controller thanks to new modules: burner management is quite literally in the application's hotspot. The new module with four digital inputs and four diverse relay outputs PNOZ m EF 4DI4DORD is available for the base unit PNOZ m B1 Burner. It gives users reliable control of plant-dependent safety functions. For example, the new module allows you to safely control and monitor safety valves, combustion air pressure or ignition on a burner within furnaces.

React quickly to motion events!
Monitoring of motion applications has also been optimised on the PNOZmulti 2. The new motion monitoring module PNOZ m EF 1MM2DO expands the application area for drive technology and uses cascading and delayed shutdown to protect capital goods and machinery: the module safely monitors an axis in conjunction with either the base unit PNOZ m B0 or PNOZ m B1. An independent module program (mIQ) can be created for each module for direct control of the safe digital outputs. Advantage: a fast reaction time to motion events.

Secure automation networks with Pilz
Industrial security is an important issue, including for Pilz: at the Hannover Messe the safety expert will be presenting a new firmware for its SecurityBridge Firewall, which offers comprehensive protection for industrial automation networks. From now on users can apply it to provide secure protection at application level for the configurable safe small controllers PNOZmulti and the automation system PSS 4000 from Pilz, but that's not all! The firewall now also guarantees to check data communication from any other subscriber outside of the Pilz product range.
