Maximizing worker safety in body-entry applications

Automated processes introduce unique safety challenges that require actively monitored protection for the machine operator, the machine itself, and the product that is being produced.  This often requires machines to be fenced-in with access being provided via lockable doors, but a lockable door can also present its own hazard, as it introduces the risk that an operator can get trapped in the danger zone which can result in serious injury if the process is restarted before they have exited from the guarded area.  Additionally, automated processes need to be shut down in an orderly manner to protect the machine and the product that it is producing, and doors must remain locked until confirmation is received that all machinery has been returned to a safe condition before access can be permitted.
