Does the E-STOP of a machine built in 2005 now have to renamed to emergency stop?

Question: A machine build in 2005 will be revised. This is not a significant change to the machine. The E-STOP pushbutton is still labelled E-STOP as was customary in 2005. Does it have to be renamed to be emergency stop?

Answer: As this is not a significant change, it will be sufficient when the machine is in accordance with the standards and directives applicable at the time.

However, we recommend that you check whether the current labelling may lead to a hazardous condition. If there is an electrical hazard (for example, high voltage test) at the machine, where the labelling E-STOP suggests something different from the actual effect?

If costs are reasonable, we recommend that you exchange the labelling in order to observe the legal requirements today.
