Operational safety

If a machine has a manual workstation, where parts are inserted and then the safety gate is closed and locked, may the machine restart automatically or must the start be initiated manually?

In principle the machine may not restart automatically.

However, should the risk assessment show that the process does not cause any risk, then the machine may start up automatically,
provided you can exclude the possibility of part of the body still being in the machine once the safeguard has closed. In the case described, this would mean that parts are only inserted via a flap, for example, so that whole body access is not even possible.
