The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) published the "Technical Report ISO/TR 20218-1:2018, Robotics - Safety design for industrial robot systems - Part 1: End-effectors“ (in English). The Technical Report is an amendment to the existing ISO 10218-2:2011 for industrial robot systems and integration.

Robotics – "Technical Report ISO/TR 20218-1:2018" published
The field of industrial robotics develops rapidly. Standards and directives have to keep pace with the development of the robot systems so that the risk of use during integration, commissioning, use and maintenance is as low as possible. Consequently, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) published the "Technical Report ISO/TR 20218-1:2018". The technical report is used as an instruction for safety measures in the construction and integration of end effectors for industrial robot systems.
The "Technical Report ISO/TR 20218-1:2018" includes, among other things:
- Manufacturing, design and integration of end effectors (such as grippers and gripper systems)
- The necessary information on the use
The document includes additional requirements of the ISO 10218 2:2011 for industrial robot systems and integration.
In an earlier message we pointed out the revision of the "Robotics standards" – ISO 10218-1 and ISO 10218-2. The publication of the technical report is an element of the ongoing international standards authorities work in the field of industrial robots ISO/TC299/WG3. Pilz contributes actively to the revision of the robot safety standards.
