Address Resolution Protocol

ARP

ARP is used to establish the IP address belonging to the Ethernet address of a network subscriber. The established allocations are administered in the ARP table on each individual computer. On Windows operating systems it is possible to influence the ARP table using the ARP command (DOS window):

  • ARP -A
    List ARP table entries
  • ARP -S <IP address> <Ethernet address>
Add static entry to ARP table
  • ARP -D <IP address>
Delete an entry from the ARP table
