A look back at our 2023 - Pilz wishes you a happy Christmas!

Let’s look back together at 2023, a really special anniversary year. 75 years of Pilz. 75 years in which to gain experience, so that together we could make the world that bit safer every day, with and for our customers. Thank you for being part of it.

This year Pilz celebrated its 75th anniversary! We experienced this special milestone together with colleagues, customers and partners at some fantastic activities and events. 75 years, in which a small glass-blowing business near Stuttgart grew into a multinational digitisation company.

Over the course of time and the generations, from glass to electronics, from the birth of the PNOZ to the myPNOZ in batch size 1, there was one constant, despite everything. Pilz will remain as it has always been – an independent and innovative company under family ownership.
 
But we could not have managed all these changes alone. Thanks are due to our employees and partners, because together we overcame even the most challenging times; together we worked to find solutions, so that we could give everything for our customers, any time, any place.

As a sign of sustainability and growth, our family business undertook to plant 75 trees worldwide in our anniversary year. The idea was taken up enthusiastically at head office in Ostfildern and by the Pilz subsidiaries worldwide; to date, several hundred trees have been planted. The final trees were planted in Cork, because our Irish subsidiary is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary this year, just like our branches in Australia and Brazil.

The family anniversary party

In September we celebrated our anniversary together at our head office in Ostfildern. Staff, retired employees and their families were all invited. There were musical contributions from the Pilz orchestra and Pilz band, and the whole of the company premises were full of activities for young and old. At the heart of everything was a large marquee, where people could enjoy a lively chat and swap stories; there was a wide range of culinary offerings too.

Hannover Messe 2023

This year we took part in more than 40 larger exhibitions worldwide. The Hannover Messe and SPS smart production solutions are representative of these. At this year’s Hannover Messe we welcomed the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Joko Widodo, the President of Indonesia. The exhibition provided a unique and valuable opportunity not only to consolidate existing business relationships but also to establish new partnerships. Constant exchange with our customers is a high priority for us, and we are even more delighted when this can be face to face.

SPS - smart production solutions 2023

This year, SPS in Nuremberg once again promised three days of lively exchange and meetings with faces old and new. Our Application Café and dining area provided the perfect spot to take some time out and get engrossed in conversations. For those who were interested, our colleagues held presentations as part of our expert panel, dealing with current issues such as the new Machinery Regulation. There were product innovations too, such as our IO-Link Safety and pioneering solutions for Industrial Security.

But it wasn’t just on the Pilz stand that things were happening; we also had the honour of being nominated for two awards, and twice achieving a top 3 place!

• We were awarded third place for our Maintenance safeguarding solution Key-in-pocket in the “AutomationsBest Award 2023”
• And we were awarded second place for our Pilz Safety Distance Calculator app in the Engineering & Robotics category of the “Automation App Awards”

Our innovative spirit is reflected not just in technology, but also in our service offer: 10 years ago we introduced the CMSE qualification – Certified Machinery Safety Expert – in 4 countries. The world’s first certified international qualification programme for machinery safety.

10 years later, this qualification is offered in 30 countries and 15 languages, setting the industry standard where machinery safety is concerned. For us, the same principles apply around the world: the creation of safe working environments for everyone who uses and maintains machines.

As well as celebrating our anniversary this year, we also celebrated the digital launch of our customer magazine “Mensch und Automation”.  Our customer magazine is a long-standing tradition and brings our customers closer to safe automation and our expert knowledge. Videos, animations, infographics and interactive elements in the digital magazine make the world of safe automation even clearer, and help provide a better understanding of the background issues. In the first digital issue, the focus is on our company’s key milestones, to mark our 75th anniversary.
